Asociatia ZIFT Educatie si Sport participated as a partner in the Erasmus+ "Cultural Compass: Navigating Diversity Through Communication" Mobility of Youth Workers project (Project No: 2024-1-ES02-KA153-YOU-000215870), coordinated by KUFF Refugees and Minorities Solidarity Association and implemented in Madrid/Alcobendas, Spain, between 29 October and 5 November 2024.

Throughout the mobility, participants explored the foundations of intercultural communication by examining concepts such as culture, multiculturalism, cultural identity, stereotypes, prejudice, global citizenship, and social inclusion. Through seminars, conferences, expert presentations, panel discussions, and interactive workshops, they gained a deeper understanding of how cultural values, traditions, language, beliefs, and behaviours influence communication. These learning activities encouraged participants to reflect critically on cultural differences while promoting empathy, tolerance, and respect for diversity.

The project combined theory with practice through a wide range of non-formal education methods. Group discussions, role-playing, brainstorming sessions, educational games, collaborative problem-solving, cultural simulations, and experiential learning activities enabled participants to strengthen their communication, leadership, teamwork, and facilitation skills. Interactive sessions focusing on verbal and non-verbal communication, conflict prevention, active listening, and intercultural dialogue provided practical tools that youth workers can directly apply in their everyday work with young people.

An equally important aspect of the mobility was promoting intercultural exchange through cultural presentations and community engagement activities. Participants introduced the traditions, music, cuisine, language, history, and daily life of their countries while comparing cultural similarities and differences in an open and respectful environment. Creative dissemination workshops, street interviews, social experiments, and public awareness activities demonstrated how Erasmus+ projects can strengthen dialogue between cultures while increasing the visibility of European youth opportunities and encouraging active citizenship beyond the project itself.

Continuous monitoring, reflection, and evaluation ensured that the learning process remained participant-centred throughout the mobility. Regular feedback sessions, project monitoring meetings, self-assessment activities, and collaborative evaluations allowed participants to assess their personal development, review the effectiveness of the activities, and identify opportunities for future improvement. By the end of the project, participants had enhanced their intercultural competence, communication, creativity, critical thinking, and cooperation skills while establishing strong international partnerships. As a partner in this Erasmus+ initiative, Asociatia ZIFT Educatie si Sport strengthened its commitment to promoting inclusion, intercultural dialogue, and international cooperation while bringing back valuable knowledge, innovative non-formal education methods, and international experiences that will continue to enrich its youth work activities and support more inclusive local communities.
